Viewing platform Conn

The retreat of the last ice age triggered the massive Flims landslide 13,000 years ago. The power of the Rhine began to break through the rock masses and created the natural spectacle of the Ruinaulta. In this gorge landscape under national protection, a window is deliberately opened for people at Conn, without them actually entering the stage. Anchored at the outermost edge of the forest plain, the viewing platform extends between the pine trees and spreads the wing-like wooden platform over the gorge space. The rod-like basic elements of the construction and their linear connections create a structural, spatial figure that is deliberately perceived as an artifact in its precise geometry, but integrates into the landscape through its scale and materiality.
