Conversion theatre space Lyceum Alpinum

A theater for Shakespeare productions is being built in the base building of the Lyceum Alpinum in Zuoz, constructed by Nicolaus Hartmann in 1913. In reference to theater construction of Roman antiquity and the Renaissance, the intervention is based on a geometric system that organizes the relationship of the parts to the whole through the ad-quadratum principle and places it in relation to the existing structure. Supported by this and in affinity with the strong spatial structure of the existing building, the existing heterogeneous space of the former swimming pool is reorganized through targeted interventions in the load-bearing structure.
